Tulane University Tulane University's Stone Center for Latin American Studies houses the Latin American Resource Center (LARC), the educational outreach arm of this premiere program for the study of Latin America and the Caribbean. The LARC promotes the study of all subject matter relating to Latin America at the K-12, community, and university levels and is one of the largest centers of its kind. They provide teacher training workshops and conferences, a free lending library of curricular materials, slide and curriculum publications, and faculty and graduate student speakers to educators here and around the nation. Their role in the Latin American Immersion Project is an important one. They serve as curriculum consultants for the Resource Center and "Country Expert," design complementary teacher workshops and other country-specific professional development for the "Head Teacher" during the course of each year, and help seek funds for the travel portion of the experience. This first year they have also graciously donated copies of all their original curriculum publications including 4 curriculum units and 9 slide packets. |
