COMPARATIVE CRITIQUE/POSITION PAPERS

Throughout the semester each student will be responsible for three 3-5 page position/critique papers based on a comparison of themes explored in class and supplemental films, books, interactive web-sites, lectures, performances and special events. First you must choose and attend, read, or view at least two supplemental exhibits, events, books, websites, performances, or films per paper. Each paper must then analyze, evaluate, or critique these supplemental source as they relates to or represent a historical institution, event, theme, or ideological movement we have discussed in class. Visit the links page of this site for approved supplemental materials. Materials or events not on this list may only be used if they are approved by me in advance.

The papers should be at least 3-5 pages or 1000-1500 typewritten words. Bibliographies and in-text citations should be included and done in MLA Style. Plagiarism will not be tolerated in ANY form (see Academic Integrity section in the University Catalog 2001-2003, pg. 17).

Duedates are Wednesday, February 19th; Wednesday, April 2nd; and Wednesday, April 23rd respectively. You will choose your favorite and present it to the class on April 23rd.

Bonus points are available if you use more than two supplemental sources in your critique.
